Do natural fiber ropes have any current applications in the fire service?

Natural fiber ropes have largely fallen out of favor in modern firefighting applications due to their inherent limitations compared to synthetic options. They can absorb moisture, which can weaken the rope and reduce its tensile strength over time. Additionally, natural fibers are susceptible to rot, mildew, and degradation when exposed to the elements or used in high-stress situations, which is commonplace in firefighting.
